The Department of Surgery at Saira Memorial Hospital consists of highly trained and skillful surgeons. Outdoor consultations are provided for a wide range of ailments including gastro-intestinal diseases, diseases of the liver and biliary tract, pancreas and diseases of the large and small intestine requiring surgical interventions. The surgical plans are drawn up in collaboration with other specialties aiming to provide comprehensive treatment to the patient.
Laparoscopic procedures are also carried out routinely. Common procedures include repair of inguinal and scrotal hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, splenectomy, abdominal hysterectomies and laparotomies.
The surgeries are carried out in the well equipped hospital theatres. Subsequent to the procedure the patients are shifted to a dedicated Post-Op Recovery Area, overseen by a Consultant Anaesthesiologist, to ensure an event free post-op recovery.

The Hospital has a seven bed ICU staffed by experienced, highly trained professionals, with excellent patient to nurse ratio, geared to provide the best possible care to their patients.
