EMERGENCY SERVICES

Emergency services are available 24/7 at Saira Memorial Hospital.

• Adult Emergency: 8-bed Adult Emergency is fully equipped to deal with all routine emergencies. The Emergency is staffed by Medical Officers with Basic Life Support certification qualified. All patients with who require immediate care and  treatment or  any life threatening condition are provided prompt care.

• The Emergency operates on Triage basis where the patients reporting  are assessed on the basis of level of emergency immediately after reporting to the Emergency. The patients with life threatening conditions are accorded the highest priority.  The  patients are divided in 5 categories with patients with non life threatening  medical conditions receiving the lesser priority. The Triage Policy allows the most sick patients receiving urgent attention and allows the staff and resources to be prioritized to patient’s benefit and better outcomes.   

The Emergency draws on the other facilities of the Hospital and various  Department and Consultants whose expertise or assistance is required are available 24//7.   

• Paediatric Emergency: 5-bed Paediatric Emergency caters for infants and children and is staffed with a dedicated and a team  trained to handle paediatric emergencies.  

• Maternal Emergency:  Additionally, the Hospital runs a dedicated Maternal Emergency around the clock where expecting mother are provided emergency care.  The maternal emergency is equipped with fetal heart monitors and facility for CTG monitoring.
